Wonderful weekend!!!

I had such a great weekend. Not that any other weekend is horrible, but Brian and I actually had a date night and made our way to the farmers market for some fresh veggies and pasta.

Check out the re-cap
Saturday we headed to the high school to get in our stadiums after work (check out my vlog) Then we decided to head over to down town Disney to check out the new Dine-In theater. It is pretty nifty. You get super comfy seats, full bar and dinner served to you.

It ended up costing more than we wanted to spend but it was nice to get out and relax.

We decided to see Safe House... with RYAN REYNOLDS!!! I love him haha

How can you say no to this stomach face?

We started our meal with a healthy serving of carrots, celery, jicama and hummus. SOOOO GOOD!!!

I didn't take pictured of dinner because I didn't want to be "that girl".. you know who I am talking about, the girl you talk crap about all through the movie for being on her cell phone LOL. But I will tell you I ordered a grilled lime chicken sandwich (on the smart choice menu) but splurged on their Parmesan fries... MMMM While Brian ordered the Thai Shrimp tacos...

Besides feeling some serious guilt for the fries we had a great time and enjoyed our night out.

Sunday brought even more joy to my life when we got up early, fueled ourselves with some homemade Pumpkin Protein pancakes topped with some cinnamon apples and fresh blueberry sauce...

and headed to the farmers market. Yep it was 30 degrees outside (yes in FL) and no that was not keeping me away from my veggies, pastas, and nuts.

We went as soon as it opened because Brian had to be somewhere at noon, plus it was 30 degrees (colder with the wind chill) so there were not many people out yet. It was great we had first pick of the veggies and everything else we wanted. So after about 30 min we were DONE!

We drove around Clermont for a little bit looking out some houses... ya we are sporadically looking for a house to buy LOL It is the type of house hunting that usually happens during a car ride and not so much any other time LOL.

Oh well despite the "cold" (I love it) weather we had a great time out and got some yummy veggies, and stuff for our week of munching.

What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

Ciao from Cold Florida

Date Night!!!

We finally had a chance for a date night this week! YAY!!! I have been working a lot... I put in about 60 hours this week and that doesn't include anything I did at home. Brian has also been working a lot, he owns his own carpentry business and this weekend was his Navy Reserves Duty weekend. So both of us were a bit tired.

Well Saturday when he got home from the base we decdied to head down to DownTown Winter Garden (an amazing, quaint little town which takes you back a few decades and automatically brings a smile to your face) to check out a new restaurant we have heard about.

*I didn't bring my good camera so please excuse the lack of great photos*

The streets are brick and the buildings were built between 1915 and 1940. They have added on a nice little community area where they hold weekly farmers markets but everything else is pretty true to history.

I bit easier to see during the day...

So armed with my newly painted toes and my new Charles Davids I was ready to get going. Just because I left weights doesn't mean I am not a girly girl.

So we were off to check out the Chef's Table. I super small seating that is hosted in the kitchen of the restaurant and a separate area called the tasting room. We were just winging it and didn't have reservations so we opted for the tasting room. It was an awesomely decorated area which was a cross between antiquated and industrial that worked very well. We got a high top next to a window which looked out onto the main street of Down Town... a great spot for people watching tehe

The tasting room is set up like a tapas room. Brian and I decided on 3 different plates and they were DELISH....

First up was my pick: Fish dip. Local whitefish was used with a variety of spices.  It was super simple and so good. There was no cream or anything just a nice light fish spread that was not overpoweringly fishy.

Second Brian's pick: Wild mushroom arancini. These were crispy mushroom risotto balls coated in herbed panko and served with a goat chesse creme. This was probably my favorite dish of the evening. Brian got points for this pick

Last we both decided on the Dip Duet: This came with a roasted red pepper hummus, baba ganoush and marinated olives served with naan bread. The baba ganoush was super creamy and smokey... so good. The hummus was a little disappointing... not bad just kinda bland.

All and all we were very impressed with the Chef's table tasting room and with only spending $21 on food that was worth more than that we will definitely be making our way back. Maybe next time we will make reservations and get the full experience in the kitchen.

Since it was date night after all we walked the streets looking at all he pretty lights and architecture. We came across a new yogurt shop they just put in and decided we ate healthy enough to splurge on some fro yo.

I decided upon Almond yogurt and Lychee yogurt topped with yogurt chips a few pieces of cookie dough and come PB chips. Hey a girl has to have fun every now and again.

We ended our evening out being silly in the streets and taking pictures at the history museum on the old trians and fire engines from when the city was first started.

If you live near Orlando then Down Town Winter Garden is a must... we love it hear and don't like to share our secret place with many people but hey, you guys are worth it. :o)

Ciao and date night joy

Yellow Dog pleases again!!!

By now you should not be surprised the Brian and I are obsessed (healthy obsession) with Yellow Dog Eats. YDE1  YDE2  Well our plan was to have a date night on Friday since we would not see much of each other all weekend. We however did not make it that far.

Thursday was a long day for both of us. I ended up in my classroom from 7:15am- 6:30pm. I was not feeling the whole cooking thing. Brian was working on a house about the same amount of time that day and he was beat. So we decided date night was being moved to Thursday and it was going to be spent at home :o)

What can I say.. I love Yellow Dog. Apparently Taz wanted some too LOL
So we started our meal with a tomato, mozzarella salad with some balsamic glaze.
So yummy!!! They do not skimp on the cheese at all!!!

So like always Brian wanted the Rufus. Which is their Pulled pork sandwich. He loves it and refuses to get anything else when we go LOL.

Rufus: Pulled Pork with Brie cheese, Cherry ring peppers and drizzled with their house made raspberry Melba. Brian also had shoestring potatoes added to his sandwich.

I too opted for a sandwich  I am very familiar with:  the Johnny Rocket, however is has been a while since I have ordered it.

Johnny Rocket: Honey Roasted Mesquite Turkey, raspberry melba, cherry ring peppers, tomatoes, smoked Gouda, orange cointreau mayo, lettuce all on a multi-grain bread.

Every sandwich is served with the house cranberry coleslaw. I personally hate coleslaw but there is something about this one that I cant resist. I usually end up eating Brian's as well.

I am a big leftover person. I love not having to think about what is for lunch the next day. I also try to cut back on those eating out calories by eating only half of what I am served. Even though Yellow Dog uses local and fresh ingredients I try not to over do it. So my lunch for Friday was the other half of my sandwich... Friday lunch was a great day!!!

If you haven't tried Yellow Dog yet, what are you waiting for?

What is your favorite go to restaurant when cooking is just not in the cards?
Ciao and great leftovers
